About Us

About SIKKIM RUN

We are from the “Service to Mankind” (Heart to Heart Connection with love and affection), an event management group formerly known as ZEST (for life and living). Our organization consists of enthusiastic, energetic, and dedicated youth committed to creating the change we wish to see in our society. We focus on organizing a variety of community-based activities that address environmental issues, health awareness, social responsibility, and youth empowerment, while also providing a platform to nurture untapped talents in our community.

Since 2014, our team has organized a marathon event titled “SIKKIM RUN: Run for a Better Tomorrow.” Sports inspire passion among people of all ages, and marathons encourage individuals to channel their energy into productive pursuits. By linking the marathon to a meaningful theme, we aim to raise awareness and foster social responsibility within our community. This theme-based marathon serves as a guiding light for those seeking direction and opportunities to contribute positively, allowing them to engage in various ways to spread this vital awareness.

Our Vision & Mission

The core vision behind “Sikkim Run” is to foster a sense of social responsibility and awareness among citizens while promoting health and fitness. The marathon is designed not just as a competitive event but as a movement aimed at creating positive change in society. It seeks to serve as a lighthouse, guiding individuals toward constructive and beneficial pursuits, and encouraging them to be the change they wish to see in their community.

Key Objectives of Sikkim Run

Promote Health and Fitness

The primary objective of the marathon is to encourage participants to lead a healthy lifestyle. Emphasizing both physical and mental fitness, the marathon provides an opportunity for people of all ages to engage in physical activity. The race categories are inclusive, allowing participants from different age groups and fitness levels to take part.

Boost Tourism

The marathon is strategically held to attract tourists from outside Sikkim, including international participants. By incorporating local cultural elements and showcasing Sikkim's scenic beauty, the event aims to boost tourism. The influx of tourists not only enhances the local economy but also raises awareness about Sikkim's unique culture and natural attractions. This has led to increased tourist activity in Sikkim, especially in November, aligning with the event's schedule.

Raise Social Awareness

Each year, the marathon is organized with a specific theme focused on a pressing social issue, such as environmental conservation, drug abuse prevention, or women’s empowerment. This thematic approach aims to educate and sensitize the public, encouraging them to take responsibility for the society they live in. The marathon acts as a platform for raising awareness and initiating dialogue on these crucial issues, fostering a sense of unity and collective responsibility among participants and spectators.

Foster Unity in Diversity

The event promotes the idea of "Unity in Diversity" by bringing together people from different backgrounds, regions, and cultures to run for a common cause. This creates a sense of camaraderie and mutual respect among participants, strengthening the social fabric of Sikkim. The event celebrates diversity while fostering unity, reinforcing the idea that collective action is vital for societal growth and development.

Youth Empowerment and Engagement

One of the key focuses of "Sikkim Run" is to engage the youth in meaningful activities that promote social consciousness and responsibility. The young volunteers and organizers are involved in every aspect of the event, from planning and execution to post-event activities. This engagement provides them with valuable leadership experience and instills a sense of purpose and commitment to community service.

Impact on Society

“Sikkim Run” has become more than just a marathon; it is a significant social event that has a lasting impact on the community. By combining sports with social themes, the event has successfully diverted the focus of many individuals towards productive and beneficial activities. Participants and spectators alike are encouraged to think critically about the issues being highlighted and consider how they can contribute to positive change in their communities.

Social Responsibility & Engagement

The marathon encourages participants to take ownership of the social and environmental challenges facing their communities. It serves as a reminder that everyone has a role to play in creating a better tomorrow, whether through individual actions or collective efforts.

Increased Awareness & Advocacy

The event has effectively raised awareness about various social issues among the public. By aligning each marathon with a relevant social theme, "Sikkim Run" has fostered a culture of awareness and advocacy, prompting discussions and encouraging people to act on the issues that matter to them.

Tourism & Cultural Exchange

By attracting participants from outside Sikkim and even internationally, "Sikkim Run" has facilitated cultural exchange and helped promote Sikkim as a vibrant tourist destination. The event showcases the state's natural beauty and rich cultural heritage, encouraging more tourists to visit and explore Sikkim.
